Das machts nicht? Not so much.

While our neighbors that speak no English continued to stay that the dog infiltration into their yard didn't matter, not surprisingly, it continued to annoy them we've discovered. We tried to keep a thumb on the dogs and restrict their movement, particularly during prime poop time, into the neighbor's space, but with only limited luck. There are good size areas behind large evergreens that we can't accurately monitor. Each day I'd wander over, trying to catch the poop before the little dowels spotted the grass. In any case, Sunday we received a letter from the owners stating that the neighbor's annoyance required a solution - and specifying that willingness to retrieve said articles was not an acceptable solution. Instead, they've agreed to build a fence at our expense. :) In the end, a much better solution all around, but still an odd way to get there.

Sunday found us on a gorgeous hike with clear blue skies to the south of Stuttgart near an old castle called Hohenzollern. Foothills dot the landscape there, popping up like a child's sand mounds from the terrain. The castle, a grand stoic structure, sits at the top of one of these. Our hike took us up that foothill (berg), around the outside of the castle, down the other side, and back up the next foothill for a grand view of the countryside and the castle. I'll try to remember to add the photo of the view to this entry. We were gone nearly four hours, and Kenai hiked the lion's portion of the distance, including some steep slippery tracks up the mountainside. Indeed, he was still going strong when he slipped on the road back while chasing Fargo and gouged his stomach with a stick or a rock. He can't understand why he can't run faster than Fargo and why Fargo won't stay behind him. In any case, aside from a nasty edge on the cut, he was fine.

Tomorrow we head for another long weekend to Austria, this time further east to the Salzburg area. Hopefully we'll get a bit better weather than we did last time.
